It's Over
Written by c00zie
It's finally over. I will say one thing about the final game - at least the team didn't completely mail that one in. There were some substandard performances, but overall they played with a little heart. They are simply not very talented, and that is what's holding them back. They got old very quickly, especially on the offensive and defensive lines. Hasselbeck had a substandard year. Our running game was horrible for the majority of the year, and our defensive backfield couldn't cover anyone. Oh, yeah - and the receivers didn't think the team was that bad. Well, I have a feeling this is going to be one hell of an offseason. Once they hire a GM I think things are going to start moving very quickly. Expect a lot of personnel moves, and possibly a lot of activity around the time of the draft. I wouldn't expect to see Deion Branch, Patrick Kerney, or a few others in a Seahawks uniform next year. The roster has a lot of holes that need to be filled, and I think we're going to see a significantly different team next season. Here's hoping they get the right guy to fix this mess. Go Hawks!
Please Let it End

What is there to say about this team that I or someone else haven't already said? Seriously, this team is hard to watch. This Sunday was the first time I've turned off the game before the 4th quarter. I seriously couldn't take it anymore. They are even more vanilla than they were a year ago, and seem to care about half as much if not more. They make a ton of mistakes and don't act like it matters. It's disgraceful the kind of effort that is taking place on the field each week, and Jim Mora seems to be in denial of that fact. I don't know what the solution is, but I believe it begins with wholesale changes. Now, at this point we know Mike Holmgren isn't coming back because the Seahawks were unwilling to give him everything he wanted. Of course, they've been down that road before and it didn't work out all that well. They'd better get their act together and bring someone in here that will bring about some real change in this organization. I think this team is as soft as a pillow and as old as it can be, so there has got to be some progress in the draft. They will need to trim the roster, and they should make some changes in the coaching staff - starting with offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. Mora may not be far behind if he can't rally the troops over the next few weeks.
Seahawks beat 49ers
Written by c00zie
Hey! The Hawks have won 2 games in a row for the first time in almost a year! Today, they benefited from Mike Singletary taking the ball out of Frank Gore's hands. There were also a couple other unlikely things that benefited the Hawks, but who cares - we'll take it!! The Seahawks now move to 5-7, matching the 49ers in the division. Overall, this was a strange game. Let's face it, the Seahawks aren't exactly playing pretty football on either side of the ball. The offense looks confused, and lacks exciting plays. Matt Hasselbeck has looked very bad at times, but in this game he at least made the play when it counted most, hitting Deon Butler down the sideline to put the Hawks in field goal range to win the game. I'm not sure if it's the offense, or if Matt just isn't in sync. It's hard to tell. The running game is equally bleh... Why Julius Jones continues to get more reps than Justin Forsett is beyond my understanding. When Jones is in it's like watching slow motion. Forsett is by far the better back, and I don't understand how our coaching staff can't recognize that fact. If Jones is with the team next year I will be shocked. Forsett deserves the job regardless of his size. Deon Butler is another guy that needs to be seeing more time on the field. Deion Branch has had his chance with this team. He's a solid player but Butler is our future at the position and should get a chance. Instead he's buried on the bench for everything except an occasional 4 wide receiver set. C'mon Coach - what's the deal? The new GM should trim some fat off this roster and he could start with Jones and Branch. They're getting paid WAY too much for what they contribute.
Defensively the Hawks played pretty well. One thing that was exploited a few times was our inexperienced LB corps. Our LB coverage skills need some work, and that was on display as Vernon Davis burned them over and over throughout the game. They'll get it eventually, but today Curry and Hawthorne got an education. Our d-line continues to struggle getting pressure as well. They did just enough today, though, to help the Hawks get the win. Like I said before, our best friend on defense was Mike Singletary. How do you not give the ball to Frank Gore? I guess if they don't want him maybe they should send him to us. We'll take him in a heartbeat if they're not going to use him!
Next up the Hawks get the Texans. If you haven't watched the Texans, they are a very exciting team offensively. It seems like every game they play is very competitive, and they don't hesitate to throw the ball downfield. Andre Johnson is an absolute stud, and their running game is not too shabby either. If Matt Schaub plays it will be critical to bring pressure. Let's see if the Hawks can put it together.
Ruskell Resigns
Written by c00zie
If you haven't already heard, the Seahawks held a press conference today to announce the resignation of GM Tim Ruskell. Apparently Ruskell was looking for an answer as to whether he would return next year or not and the team was not ready to give him those assurances. This move is probably the right thing to do, as the team has been unable to fill gaps in their aging roster with players that Ruskell has brought in. This might also mean that head coach Jim Mora is not as secure as many thought for next year. It will all depend on who the Hawks decide to bring in. Yes - the Mike Holmgren for GM talk has already begun. Don't be surprised if this happens considering the ties Holmgren has with Paul Allen and the city of Seattle in general. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens. Check out the video of Ruskell for more.
What's to say?

4 yards on 13 carries. That's all that needs to be said. 4 freaking yards. Seriously. This team has sunk to a new low. They looked like a JV team struggling to keep up with the varsity. Their players looked outmatched at nearly every position. The Vikings took almost all their starters out in the 3rd quarter! How embarrassing. I can not believe how inept these guys look. The effort is not there. The interest to compete does not exist. I don't know what else to say. They are going to need to seriously take a look at things in the offseason, if not before then. Like I said - not much to say about this one. Now they go on to play the Rams. If they lose that one heads should roll, and it's entirely possible they will.
